It’s time to change the game. The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. DAVID STURZAKER WILL PLAY GARETH SOUTHGATE AND
STAGE AND SCREEN ACTRESS SAMANTHA WOMACK WILL PLAY PIPPA GRANGE IN THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NATIONAL TOUR OF JAMES GRAHAM’S OLIVIER AWARD-WINNING PLAY.
Actor David Sturzaker who will play the role of Gareth Southgate said: "I'm thrilled to be taking on the role of Gareth Southgate. It's a great responsibility and an honour to be playing him. He’s been an inspiring figurehead for many, rebuilding a team, and the country’s self-belief at what is possible, on and off, the football pitch. This is one of the aspects of the play that resonates most for me - the ability of football, and sport in general, to extend its reach beyond the game, to unite us and inspire us in our lives beyond the sport itself. It's also hugely exciting to be involved in a production that has already been such a hit in London and Salford. I'm looking forward to taking Dear England on tour across the country, giving many more people the opportunity to see this fantastic show.”
Actress, Samantha Womack, who will play the role of Pippa Grange said: "I am so excited to be returning to the stage to perform in Dear England. It's a wonderful piece of theatre - entertaining and thought-provoking as well as incredibly staged. She fundamentally changed the culture and, in turn, the course of sporting history by teaching the squad to embrace their fears and she's an extremely inspiring role to take on."

I'm Sorry Prime Minister - Milton Keynes Theatre
Mark Goucher and Iwan Lewis, Bob Benton, Clive Hayley and Gavin Kalin present The Barn Theatre Production of I’M SORRY, PRIME MINISTER. A new comedy written and directed by Jonathan Lynn and co-directed by Michael Gyngell.
I’m Sorry, Prime Minister will embark on a major UK tour following its West End run, including performances at Milton Keynes Theatre from Tue 30 Jun - Sat 4 Jul 2026.
This is the final chapter of Yes, Minister, written by BAFTA Award-winning Jonathan Lynn, which sees ex-Prime Minister Jim Hacker and Sir Humphry Appleby in their old age, facing up to life in their retirement.
Casting for the tour will be announced soon.
From the BAFTA Award-winning co-creator of Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, Jonathan Lynn, comes the long-awaited final chapter of British political satire — and it is as cutting and catastrophically funny as ever.
Jim Hacker is back — older, but perhaps not wiser, and still utterly baffled by the real world. Hoping for a quiet retirement from Government as the master of Hacker College, Oxford, Jim instead finds himself facing the ultimate modern crisis: cancelled by the college committee. Enter Sir Humphrey Appleby (played by the acclaimed Clive Francis), who has lost none of his love for bureaucracy, Latin phrases, and well-timed obstruction.
Can Humphrey and Jim outmanoeuvre the hostile students, the Fellows, and reality itself? Or is it finally time to say, "I’m Sorry, Prime Minister..."? Brimming with razor-sharp wit, nostalgic brilliance, and more double-speak than a press briefing, this is political comedy at its most timeless — and timely.
Yes Minister is a British television comedy series written by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn. Comprising three seven-episode series, it was first transmitted on BBC2 from 1980 to 1984. A sequel, Yes, Prime Minister, ran for 16 episodes from 1986 to 1988.
Set principally in the private office of a British cabinet minister in the fictional Department of Administrative Affairs in Whitehall, Yes Minister follows the ministerial career of Jim Hacker, played by Paul Eddington. His various struggles to formulate and enact policy or effect departmental changes are opposed by the British Civil Service, in particular his Permanent Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, played by Nigel Hawthorne. The series received several BAFTAs and in 2004 was voted sixth in the Britain's Best Sitcom poll. It was the favourite television programme for fans across the political spectrum, most notably of the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher.
Performances run at Milton Keynes Theatre from Tue 30 Jun - Sat 4 Jul 2026. Tickets are available now.
